A BaZi chart reading reveals two things: the structure you were born with — your destiny — and how that structure moves through time across your Major Luck Cycles — your luck. The first is the fixed framework you cannot change; the second is the rhythm that continually adjusts that framework as the years unfold. First, the part you cannot change — your destiny.

You are the owner of your own chart — what Gé Rén calls the Day Master. Once we know the element and nature of your Day Master, we read you as the centre of the chart and compare you, piece by piece, against everything else within it. The final decision is always yours. There is, however, a subtle boundary to this: your effort moves within the range your chart defines — it rarely breaks through the ceiling, and it seldom falls below the floor.

In Gé Rén's experience, the balance tends to sit around seventy-thirty: roughly seventy percent shaped by the framework you were born with, and thirty percent earned through your own effort. Because that thirty percent is the part that belongs to you. Your chart defines the range, but it does not walk the road for you. Can a chart predict exactly what will happen to me in a given year?
